A crime investigation thriller / horror genre movie that tries to be true to the genre. With setting the mood, the making (technical), and maintaining the thrill – the movie wins for the most part. The nonlinear narration adds strength and helps us to travel along the story in an investigation mindset.
Naga Chaitanya, Parvathy and Priya Bhavani Shankar give their decent performance. The message the series tries to deliver is good and it is delivered creepily – strongly.
Even though it is a series, I see that the engagement factor stays up pretty much throughout the series. There are no unnecessary or filler scenes to stretch the run time. And that is a major plus.
On the downside – many important instances are either logically stupid or unrealistic.
For instance, the way DCP easily, and straightforwardly finds out everything makes the investigation uninteresting and unrealistic.
There should have been moments where the investigation struggles, or leads to a dead end. The layers as they unfold, should take their time or be not so straightforward.
Maybe, the director wanted to portray DCP as a very intelligent woman. But that actually kills the thrill, and also makes the whole investigation a “meh”. Besides, not to mention it is so unrealistic.
Even after knowing about the threat to a pregnant wife, the husband fails to provide any protection, neither the DCP nor the father (at the very least lock the door and be vigilant). There are a couple of slightly brilliant moments though.
If you are a lover of crime investigation thrillers, go for it and be prepared to neglect the downsides. Almost every death is shown disturbingly and there are a couple of gory scenes – hence not for children. Available on Amazon Prime.
